The cabelas prestige reels are really Okumas sierra reels the look is exactly the same. I didn't knwo about the cabelas and orvis reels being hardy stuff. That is nice. I also never noticed the cortland and LSR reel being the same. I did see that redington CD and the pflueger trion look alot alike.

Stu; That Pflueger Trion is actually a very nice reel especially for the $$ I would have bought one but there is no way to silence the clicker . The Cortland Endurance is a great reel for the $$. I love mine even better than my Battenkill.

I have the trion and it is a jewel. I would highy recommend it to anyone. It has features found on the high dollar reels and still fairly affordable. Look at hookandhackle.com they have them 20% off so about $80 it is a steal at that. Also look at the Medalist pro, I have one on my 8wt and like it alot. Really cheap like under $40 and looks to be the trion drag just a diff. frame. You are wrong about the clicker, simple fix! Not that bad anyway, I love to hear it when a fish takes drag. Even though that is a rarity. But all you have to do is use the provided tool and remove a screw that is like a set screw that holds down the little click button and the underlying screw, bingo no clicking.

Stuart; Man I wish the salesman had known that it could be silenced . The Trion has a little more weight and a kinda of retro look to it . The extra weight helps balance cane rods which are slightly heavier, and retro always look good against cane.

Excellent read, and I will definitely do some investigating of my own. I know several guides that work nights at Bass Pro in Nashville. Gotta go get my catalogs and do some comps.
