Is it possible to set up a BOD that would be in charge of handeling different things. The things we may want to consider are "Donations", "Paying Members", "Events and Happenings". Things like that. Maybe we could Adopt A Stream or something.
Lets get involved folks!

Hey Josh, Since this isn't a non-profit group, but a private message board owned by someone who ( humbly ) has a guide service, I don't think a BOD is a possibility. But, I've been wrong before! owl

Please explain to me why we couldn't elect people to handle these such things?

Well Josh,
Right now we really don't have a ton of members, definately not enough to need a BOD. And like Owl said...the board really isn't set up as any kind of Conservation Org. Maybe one day we can do something like that though.
I set the board up primarily for one reason...to give the folks who love Tennessee Fly Fishing a place to call home. I didn't set it up to promote our guide service or any guide service / fly fishing service.
With that said, I've welcomed folks to add links to their personal sites because I think every member should be able to let folks know what they have going on. Links in signatures such as mine or Owl's are great and welcomed.

I say that we get involved with the Conservation of Es. Tenn. Rivers. I understand that may be in the future, but I say we go ahead and plan for this.

I really like Rocky's concept of " A place to call home". The warmth and fellowship of this board is a rare and wonderful thing. As with most things of that nature it can be a fragile thing. Sometimes "too much" structure/organization can styffle the good natured character that this board has taken on. Some times loose organization held together by a common passion ( ie Fly Fishing) is the way to go. Having a BOD with regimented responsibilities is a sure fire way to turn something you love into a job, or even a ball and chain. Fly Fishing should be fun, and I like that fact that this board is fun. The best way to get involved right now probably is to use this board to get the word out for other organizations that are already "involved". For example many board members are also heavily involved in local TU chapters. This board is a good medium for communicating the needs and projects of those chapters to non-members who would like to help. This allows the board to be of great service to the Fly Fishing community, while still not allowing the burden of responsibilty to weigh on the overall tone and personality of the board. Best of both worlds. Oh well its probably not worth two cents , but there it is,....................Tentwing

Tentwing that was well said, Josh I understand what you are saying, and that is a fine idea. But many of us are involved with local conservation societies (myself I am on the board of directors for Hiwassee Chapter TU) or practice conservation through our actions. One thing that happens on other boards that deal with these issues ends up with spammed boards, name calling and even some friendships that have been built are destroyed. Peoples ideas and beliefs are fragile things sometimes. If this board was sponsored by a local conservation group then I could see how it could be ran in the form you are talking. I like where this board is, it is made up of people that have a love of fly fishing or fishing in general. It is a board that can be a haven for those that get tired of the bombardment of ideas and issues. It nice to put away a days worries sometimes and have somewhere you can go read, post and converse without being bashed over the head if you are disagreed with. Which hopefully we are not doing to you. Good idea Josh, it just that the founder of this board had different goals. Josh you have great drive and desire at such an early age, I have been told you are 14. Keep that fire burning it will serve you well. Merry Christmas, Petey

I see it from a different standpoint now. I fell more at home at this board more than any other, other than NGTO.
