Hey guys, I have fished a few new waters lately, and i thought it might be nice if we had a list here of what flies on each specific waterway seem to work the best. Then maybe a reference back to the flytying section where one can see the fly if it has been included.
I realize some of the guys won't part with their favorite flies upon penalty of near death, but it would probably make it better fishing for those of us who don't get to travel around and fish different waters much. What i had in mind was the name of the fly, the hook size and type (i.e.-if the pattern needs a curved scud hook, etc), and the best colors.
We could just list the area waterways that we fish and let folks add their flies as they wish. Who knows, we might recognize seasonal changes, habitat changes, whatever in what the fish are taking.
We might could tie this in with the Fly Box section. Just add which rivers, tailwaters, creeks, whatever that they are using the flies on.
What i would expect would be something like: Clinch River Flybox BH pheasant tail size 16, 18 , 20 Zebra midges size 18, 20 colors black, tan, red Soft hackles size 16, 18 colors yellow, orange
Just for example. Modify the idea however you want. Just thought if i had a reason to be in an area i hadn't fished before, i could look here quickly for what 1/2 dozen to dozen flies i would need to tie/buy to take with me.
Just a thought. Later,
