I bought this reel last year for a 7wt. rod I own. I was going fishing and looking for a reel I could expose to the salt water enviroment and not worry to much about it. Upon returning home I decided to buy some sink tip line and use it for stripping streamers. www.orvis.com/store/product_choice.asp?pf_id=29AE&feature_id=&dir_id=758&group_id=768&cat_id=5115&subcat_id=6709&shop_id=If you are in the market for an inexpensive reel that you can beat the crap out of and it keeps coming back for more w/ looks and weight not being an issue, then this is the reel for you! Also the drag lacks a little to be desired. It is very basic in function, goes from one extreme to the other but not much middle ground. But like always you get what you pay for. I hear some people compare things they buy to a Cadillac. Well, this is a School Bus then. It is heavy, clunky, and big. If you are a person that likes a smooth reel with nice curves, the Rocky Mountain is not your choice. If you want to save a hundred dollars and buy something that you don't have to worry about scratching up, then this is for you. I will give the reel its due. It has landed me some nice fish and has been a work horse. In the end it is a Wooley Booger!
