This is the closest thing to actual bobber fishing I have ever seen, and they work great! They come in sizes suitable for small nymphs on tailwaters to suspending large heavily weighted nymphs for mountain streams. They are already on a threading wire and you just run your line thur the loop and pull the wire. Presto. Strike indicator is on. Then you can slip it up and down the line easily. They adj. so easily that you can adj. your depth on every hole. Which I think makes a huge difference. You can always maintain proper depth control. In the past with yarn indicators I would not go though the trouble of loosening the knot just to adj. my depth by 12'', but with these you just grab it and slide it. They make 2 kinds. The first are not reusable, if you pull it off then you just throw it away. The second type are the reusable ones. With these you first put on a rubber stopper and then your indicator and then another rubber stop. After your done with it you throw the rubber stops away and you can re use the indicator. The cool thing about these are that by useing only the top stopper you can use it as a slip float rig in deep water. You could set the depth as deep as you wanted to, 15-20' or whatever. When you reel up the float will just slip back down to your sinker and you can reel all the way up. Again, I have to give this product an Elk Hair Caddis, I truely believe that by being able to adjust your depth so easily it will increase your strike percentage.

I agree 100 percent on your rating Jay. I used them for the first time a few weeks ago when I was fishing with ScottS on the Clinch. Cal, up at CRoutfitters at the Clinch turned me on to them.

RacerX -- what's the advantage of the Frog Hair indicators over the football strike indicators? I looked at some at Cal's and figured that wire was just something more for me to tangle the leader on.

Elkman, You use the wire to thread your leader through the indicator (thread them like a bobbin.) The advantage is the FHI are more durable and will not slide off (I'm thinking one pack will last a long time.) They stay in position too. I think if you keep them above the weakest tippet knot you will hang on to them after a breakoff, which we all know happens a lot on the Clinch. They're tailor made for fishing with a staight leader. They also work on tapered leaders but they will not slide all the way up the butt. Get some large, medium, and small and you'll be happy you did. Do Cal a favor and buy from him.

I see what you mean, Rusty! I hadn't taken the time to let Cal show me how the things work. I bought a bunch of those football strike indicators recently, but I'll give the FH's a try when they're gone.
