I put this fly line on my 7'6" 4wt Sage DS2 , 6-10" 4wt. Heddon Bamboo and recently purchased it for my new 7'9" 2wt Orvis Superfine, which I haven't got to fish yet. It is still being shipped. The Rio Selective Trout Fly Line is great for small water action. It can land a dry fly ever so lightely at the end of a long cast or turn over a double nymph rig. It also has enough head to turn over a fly in close proximety and not landing in a heap. Nor have I had a problem with coiling or knots. I strongly suggest this fly line for anybody looking for a new line on a small stream set up. To me this line is right up there with Wulff's Triangle Taper. Sounds good. How is its floatability?

Varmit I am of the opinion if floats just fine. It seemed to ride high in the water, though the line may have a total of 5 outings on it since Christmas. Let me continue to fish it and I will let you know how it does. Petey

The Selective Trout is one of the few lines I have that does everything extremely well, including float. It comes with some sort of magic coatong Rio calls 'Agent 'X'. Whether it's that coating or the welded loop on the business end that both seals the end of the line and doubles the bouyancy that makes it float so well I'm not sure. This line does float with the best of them though and caused me to switch favorite brand status to Rio from that BIG line company.

Welcome to the board tytelynes! Thanks for the info on the line. If I read the hidden message correctly, I have been using that "Big Company" line and have noticed that on a day of heavy fishing, the tip of the line begins to take a nose dive. If I wanted that I would have bought sinking tip. I am looking for a true floating line. May give this stuff a try.

I just put Rio Selective Trout WF4F on my new Lamson reel.....have yet to get it wet, plan to soon. Heard alot of praise for Rio line so decided to give it a try. I have had problems with the last 2-3 ft of the end of my 444 Peach sinking. Tried everything to keep it floating to no avail, and heard this Rio line does float high and well.
I guess I'll find out soon enough. Thanks for the report!
