I just got my mitts on a couple new lines to try out and have to say, they ARE impressive! Cortland seems to have gone back to the drawing boards after the mixed reviews their 555 series got. Some folks liked them, it seems most had coiling problems with them. The new Dyna-Tip lines that I got had me full of doubt. The DT 5 wt. id neat in that it is a different color on each end. One is a muted yet visible color that helps in seeing what the line is doing in the air and on the water, the other end is a stealthy color that should work well for spooky trout. First off... NO COILING! Right off of the spool it layed out as straight as any other line I've used and straighter than most! The taper is just perfect and seems to be a true 5 weight. It lays out fair and straight with each cast. The best part so far is the tip section. It seems to be made of a different material than the running line and does it ever float! I've only used it a few times so far but as of yet it is about as close to a perfect flyline as I've ever used. Kudo's to Cortland for not giving up!
