After burning through 4 pairs of waders over the last 10 years.. I have decided to ante up and buy some Simms. Which pair is the question? G4Z, G4 Pro, G3 Guide, or G3 Guide Convertible... The G4's are really pushing the up reaches of my budget. But I do like some of the features. The G3's are more in line with what I can afford. I am leaning toward the G3 Convertibles, because I like the ability of being able to wear my wades in pant mode when on the boat and having to wear waders, but also like the ability to go to chest high when needed. Does anybody have any opinions on any of these waders and what some pro's and cons are? Before I drop a chunk of change I want to make sure I getting the best bang for my buck. Thanks, Petey

Been wearing the G4 pros for about a year and by far the most comfy and tough waders i have ever had. I would guess the g3 to be just as good for less money. As far as convertibles go, I had a a pair of the old riverteks for a long time and never really used them as pants. While wading you dont realize how often, even in the park, that you get in water over your waist. Prob be great if used mostly in a boat.

Sounds like G4's are the way to go. This is a tough decision. I am drawn to the G3's with the conversion to pants still. Just like the versitily... Decisions, decisions, decisions.... Petey

Well boys, they kicked absolute butt... no other way to describe it. Best purchase I have made in a long time as far as gear is concerned.

That would be an upgrade from what I had before. Because according to my wife, I don't have one!

I have had my G3 waders for something like 10 years! Before these waders I never had a pair last more that 2 seasons before the pathwork started. I went through 2 pair of Orvis, and and a pair of Patagonia waders in 4 years and I have had this single pair of G3's for 10 years! They are well worth the investment. I hate new things and I really like old, dingy, worn in equipment! It excites me each year to put another year on a piece of equipment! My waders are venerable and smell like it, I love it!

Jay you make a good point. The aroma that is contained in a well seasoned pair of waders is unique to the individual that wears them.

Well boys. I bought the G3 Convertibles last fall. They have been simply next level. I love the ability to either go chest high or stay with the pants. I have had uses for both, sometimes in the same day. The comfort of having just waste highs on days when I know I won't be up past my hip is far more confortable then being strapped in up to my armpits. These bad boys are Royal Wulffs in my opinion.
