Today I took my first after-school trip up to the mountains. To sum it all up, the gnats were bad and the fishing was worse! I caught maybe 8 fish in 4 hours of fishing. It was a bad time of day, but even after the sun dropped below the ridge, it didn't get any better. Even the all-mighty PT wasn't catching much!! I'm really disappointed with the way it has been fishing lately. Too bad it is the closest option . On a brighter note, I got new boots and had LRO order an 8'6" 4wt TFO for me. ;D Tight Lines

Flicker, I was up in the park on Monday and it was the same story. I fished the Little River and Elkmont and every time I saw somebody I thought they were waving at me but it was the bugs in their face . Caught a few on a pt's, but they were few and far between. Hopefully I can get a window on the clinch on Friday. Good luck. Stretch

What kind of boots did you get Flick? I also picked up one of the TFO 8'6" 4wt. I picked up one of the series ones. I can't wait to play with it on Abrams.... I figure that river will be perfect for that rod. Petey

I wanted to get the Abrams Creek boot, but they were backordered and I didn't want to wait. I got the 59$ Orvis boots, Clearwaters maybe?? They seem more durable than the Abrams I have, but they are lacking in ankle support.
Mine is a Series 1 also. My go-to rod is a 7'6" 3wt TFO that is great for dries or dry and a dropper. I just really feel the need for more length when I'm high stickin.
I think I'm going to head to the CNF until the weather cools and the fishing pressure drops off in the smokies.
