With all the water cranking out of the area tailwaters and the spring fever chaos of catching the quill gordon hatch in the park, I instead I opted for a couple hours to see how the warmer water counterparts were fairing. Since I only live 15 min from a couple of well known productive Lil' Pig' holes, I headed out with bunny bugger in hand and simms g3's on with the top down...(I LOVE these waders)... Anyhow the water was swift, but clear and a little cool. I certainly didn't expect much being early spring and all, but a few smallies did came out to play. Up and across to a downstream swing and slow retrieve brought plenty of action. Even managed some high stickn'. I tell ya, there is no mistaken a smallmouth absolutely thumping your fly and nothing like the battle that ensues...and the tiger stripes, boy have I missed these fish this winter! The action is sure to only get better...and when I only have a couple of hours to spare, I know where I'm heading. Here's some of the nicer fish from this morning...
