Went smallie fishing again last weekend but all the fish were pretty small so I spent an hour or so messing with the buffalo on a shallow flat. Those guys are alot of fun! On the fenwick glass

Nice! They look very similar to a redhorse sucker I caught a few weeks back while salmon fishing in Michigan - it put up quite a fight & was only about 14" or so; I bet those were a blast to fight & land.
How were you fishing them, just bottom-bumpin a small nymph? I'm also wondering what's the best size of nymph they tend to go for...

chaser; I love Buffalo fishin You will see them move upstream to spawn on the Cumby around the first of May. Even the small ones will take you into your backing ............Tentwing

I caught these on a small grey crawfish pattern fishing upstream of them so I could put it right on their nose. They do fight very hard and make several runs. I don't like to have less than a 6wt on them and preferably 2X tippets.
