Well, it was too tough to pass up this pre spring weather and since its been awhile since I've wet a line -I decided to shirk all responsibilities and/or obligations and make a quick jaunt to Metcalf Bottoms...I was on the water about 11:30 and the water was pretty cold...sort of felt like a tailwater set up - legs freezing but waist up was comfortable in short sleeves. Wish I had a thermometer to track the water temps...as the fishing started off slow. As expected though, the water warmed up and the fishing heated up...there was a flurry of activity and the fish were active for about an hour and several nice fish came to and. I was surprised about the brown which was easily over 12 and the the larger bow was just about 12...everything came on a midge emerger dropped off a PT of all things, though there was nothing coming off - just goes to show ya,no matter where you are - a winter and midges are like chips and dip... anyhow, looking for ward to some bruisers at the frostbite...
