I wonder if the fish you guys caught are the remainders of the hardiest of the hardy from last summers drought?
Nice report anyway......looks like a wonderful place.

we did wonder that too, but I've seen some brookie report other places where folks still did pretty well, and we were pretty high elevation wise, so who knows, but man I'd hate to think that is the case. Below the barrier though, we had bows bitting in all the usual runs and pools where they should be. I missed two down there, hooked one and LDR'ed it. Then we ran into private property, so we headed back up to the fishless, well not many fish at all creek. I think if the drought got them, then wouldn't the stuff way down from the barrier have been a lot worse, just what I was thinking. Did find some 10 lb test and some worm containers though. Not saying anything, but that's a thought of where some of them went. Who knows but I'd hate to think the drought zapped em!

Great looking pics Lab! Sorry the brookie fishing wasn't any better. I attended a meeting this year that addressed the trout conditions and how it affected the fish. Their findings (National Park Scientists and Researchers) was that the drought effected the brown trout the most. Especially the big guys. They said the general number of fish was still the same per mile, but that the size of fish was down. They said it was that way for both brookies and bows. The same guys went on to say that water temperatures weren't so much effected as amount of water in the stream, which in hand led to small food supplies in the streams. Now the people whom had the worm containers and 10 lb test could have had a direct impact. Don't underestimate the impact poachers can have on a fishery. Especially if they are allowed to poach for a long period of time with out being reprimanded or arrested. Those pics have me itching for some mountain stream fishing! Petey
