Marmot, myself and a couple of friends hiked into the lower end of Slick Rock for a couple of days this past weekend. Marmot and I hiked in on Friday morning. with our two other friends joining us on Saturday morning. The weather was simply awesome all weekend. We had incredible bug hatches. We had Hendricksons, Black and Golden Stones, Little Yellow Sally's, Dark Bodied Caddis and tons of other little insects doing their thing. The fishing was good in the morning and afternoons but it turned on and off like a switch. When it was on you better be on the water moving from run to run and getting them when you can. Because when it turned off you couldn't buy a bite. A couple of notes of interest from the weekend. - If you plan on having trout for dinner, it is better to take a net than to land by hand. - Dry driftwood burns hotter and brighter than your average downed tree but is harder to come by and must be worked for. - Bears like toothepast and speed stick , therefore they must be hung with food. - Hogs can't climb trees, but they can plow up dirt better than a Deere. - If you add Spark to water it will give you superhuman like powers. - Wool socks won't burn, but melt. - Setting a personal best going across the Dragon will cause tire wear and leave a possible vibration in your brakes. Here are some snapshots from the weekend that was..... The Boars Nest Marmot High Sticking for Dinner Marmot using the Side-arm Backhanded Cast Slick Rock Lower Falls Dinner Wild Flowers Petey

The casting juice was not stored in that bottle. That bottle contained water, as far as I know. LOL.....

That is us in the Red Volvo 850 T5..... www.photoreflect.com/pr3/ThumbPage.aspx?e=2855370&g=00&s=25Check out the lean.... It could be the speed or it could be our packs sliding from side to side in the car. I will let you be the judge. Petey

Looks like ya'll had fun. On behalf of myself and T-Dub, we would love to be invited on the next trip, but be warned...when the TentVarmit crew shows up things have a tendancy to get a couple of knocks off plumb. Monsoon, Blizzard, forgotten equipment, fruitless searches for license.....you name it, it could happen when we come blowin through. ;D Glad ya'll had fun.

Be-careful for what you ask for when you team up with Marmot. He will drag you to places that man hasn't seen since Davy Crockett roaming these hill sides. Some places required names because there was no name given where he took us. There was Hell For Certain Creek, then there was No Business Creek, How Did We Get Here Crag, and others. Why after a fun filled adventure with Marmot you will come out with tics, chiggers, briar scratches so bad it looks like Freddy Kruger got a hold of ya, bee stings, and all sort of mean and nasty things. The only two things I can think of that I have not gotten while hanging with Marmot on one of his "Hey, lets go do this" adventures are STD's and Malaria. All kidding aside. When on adventure with the Marmot, make sure you have your first aid kit and a bottle of finest bourbon. That way you can bandage up what ever is ailing you and what ever you don't use to clean the wound you drink to numb the pain. I am just messin' Marmot.... One things that is for certain though. He may take you through hell and high water to some places, but they are most of the time a small slice of heaven when you get there. Petey

Man I would love to go, but my daughters birthday is the 18th... so that pretty much knocks me out of anything that requires an over nighter any where. Thanks for the heads up though. You may get some bites from a couple of guys on here, we do have some adventurers. Petey

yeah, I'd hate to cancel, but I have been salivating for this one, but I am a little wimpy on the backcountry alone stuff, just to many variable of things to go wrong that would have me....up the creek without a paddle. it's a while off so I am confident I can at least talk somebody into it.
