Decided to brave the Cades cove traffic and hit a small strech of Abrams. The fishing was great despite the low water and the SMBBSH was the weapon of choice. Most the fish were 6-9", there was plenty of action and a few larger ones to hand and some that got away... I decided not to hit the spring section due to bear activity in the area, but I was kept busy with the main stream.

Do bear usually hang out more in the Spring Creek area? Did not know that. Will need to make note of that for future trips. Thanks for the heads up Jermz, and great pic of a nicely dotted bow! Love the pretty red stripe as well. Petey

Great picture, Jermz. Pretty colors.
And I hadn't heard about the bear activity, either.

Thanks guys... Didn't notice any iso husks around Hugh, there were some caddis about and smaller stones like sallies but a little bigger...small midges around as well. I was surprised about the bear activity as well - the elijah?cabin area to the rightside before you cross the brige to take the right to abrams was closed as well - there were alot of park people around the trail head doing this and that, so who knows...my theory is that the blackberries are ripe and ready for the pickin' (I'd been eating them all day along the streams) ;D
