Location somewhere in VA. I went to the mountians today to fish instead of the tailwaters. I jsut need to get away and breath some nice mtn air. I had a decent day caught around 10. I also had a long walk, that was good then but now I am dying! I fished with the 9ft 5wt I built for the first time in the mtns today performed great. Still don't knwo if it will replace the 9ft 4wt it was my first love. I fished a double nymph rig of a Harey prince and a PT under an indicator. Sometimes I fished a WB I love those things in the hills! I didn't catch any size but, still caught a few and had a good time walking and trying to clear my head. If you are fishing alone you are always the best on the water. I should have had several more fish but missed quite a few. Need to get the mtn reflexs back. It is diff. than the Holston. I only have one pic to share it is a small wild bow. But really a jewel, look at the red on this one. I caught one prettier than this one and but colored like it. I think it may have been a little bigger too, but too busy to take a pic I regret it now. Here is a pic of the fish from 1-10-06 and a pic of the 5wt i built. That is the rod with the fish and I done the stripping guides, the tip top and the hook keeper in blue.

Wow Stuart, that fish has "wild" written all over it. That rod has "let Hugh fish it " written all over it. ;D Great report fella. Keep um coming. Hugh Hartsell---East Tn.

Nice work on the fish and the rod... those rosey cheeks remind me of the residents there in Abrams Creek....

Thanks guys I had a really good day but last night at work my legs still ached. I need to do more of those long several mile hikes to fish. I probably hiked about 7 or better miles that day. Hugh anytime about the rod! I used a Rainshadow blank on it I really like it so far. I ahve caught several nice ones on the holston on it. I think I will stick to my ol 4wt in the mtns though. It felt kinda like cheatin on the wife if ya know what I mean! I just love that 4wt. I need a fishing caddy. Like in golf. he could carry stuff and say things like in this hole I would recomend a pheasant tail and this 9ft 4wt. It would be kinda like a guide but more willing to pack my stuff and get lost when I am happy with what I have but yet have to be there when I needed something! OH ya he would have to work for free. I am too cheap for a guide more less a fishing gopher! I know dream on right? Oh well bed calls later guys. STU
