Thanks in advance from a new member.... My trek began when I fished a buddies bamboo rod.... I got the bug. My journey took me to the attic where I dug out my, (here it goes, you guessed it) grandfathers Bamboo Rod! I am not interested in it's value and that has to be a relief to you. I want to get it into fishable condition.
I am interested in shipping it to a reputable restorer for evaluation and restoration. I am a trout bum and would like to think it is a 4 or 5 wt rod (modern line)!
Here goes with my best description, and thanks for your patience. It is a three piece Heddon #17. No other markings in he rod, sack or aluminum tube. The rod seems very light/delicate to me. all pie es are intact, wrappings are good. The varnish was stuck to the sock and has to be removed and the rod refinished. I would like an opinion on the wisdom of installing a new seat and handle VS refinishing. I want to fish modern line so new ferrules may be needed, the old may be of help to someone else. Each tip section has six ferrules, the mid has four and the butt has one.
I would be glad to send pics once I learn how to. Any help you can recommend to educate be would be appreciated! .....Tughunter

Hey welcome to the Board! As far as your boo addiction...I too suffer, but with a smile. I restore bamboo rods. Heck that has been the only way I have been able to afford them! Anyway, if you want it restored, I can do it for you. Ask anyone on this forum and they will vouch for my work. Shoot me an email with details and photos if you have em and we will see if we can't get that old classic back in fishing shape. My email is marc.payne@knoxmpc.org Hope to hear from you soon. BTW, if you want a good evaluation on both your rod and my restoration skills, get in touch with Tentwing (one of the forum heavies) and he will get you up to speed on both what you have and what I can do. marc

Thanks for your reply Marc. I will send you a separate email with pics. I would like to get your feedback and pursue getting the rod worked over. I was out fishing yesterday and could not help but think about bamboo every time I hooked up.....I think I got it bad,err good! Mark
