Several weeks ago my wife approached me about taking a road trip with my girls, just the three of them. She had family she wanted to see in Indiana and knew I would be board stiff on a trip like that. So we planned out a 4 day itinerary that did not include me. The idea of being left free to roam and plan what I want was at first sensory overload. But after a few days of 100+ degree weather the answer became obvious. I rang a trusty companion and we started talking campsite, places to stay. Hike in or get a site at a campground. This side of the mountain or that. National Park or National Forest. The only criteria was that we had to have cool 60 degree nights. Everything else was up for debate. After a couple of weeks of here or there, this one or that one we finally hatched a plan. In the Park, at 5200 feet elevation in a quiet campground near brook trout water. So this past Friday we left our respectable (or not so respectable, depending on the point of view) places of business at noon and headed out to our destination. We ended up here.... Fell in line with these guys.... Was closely watched by this guy.... And managed to find a blue line that held a few of these guys.... And life was good!
