Just wondering if I might get some tips on what flies are working this time of year. Not asking for your Top Secret, go-to, sure fire, fish catching patterns, just something to get started tying. Been tying a few flies the last couple of days, but no real direction so far. Just working the kinks out and getting the hang of it. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I guess that all depends on where you are headed to fish. It can vary on the fishery...
With that said... Size 18-14 Bead Head Pheasant Tail Nymphs are a good place to start on about any fishery. Size 8-10 Bead Head Olive and Black Wooly Boogers will just about catch fish anywhere. For dries size 12-16 Tan and Olive Caddis, as well as same size Parachute Adams... Those and variations of them are staples in about any local anglers box.

I was going to tell ya to go check out the Fly Box.. but nearly all the pictures in that link don't show up anymore. All of those pics were linked from a former paysite me and TW and use to use. It no longer exists... should probably shut it down. It is there for the recipes, but I don't have the time to go back and link all of those photos...

Sean; I will start searching for another site for hosting pictures , and try to get the fly box back up to speed. I haven't been there in so long I forgot about villagephotos going under Tentwing

Quill gordons and blue quills should be making a showing here soon in the park...a size 12 grey soft hackle and a #12 para adams will work the gordon hatch, and smaller #18 pheasant tails and adams (or a thunderhead if you wanna be appalachy like)....as for tailwaters.,,,, well, what tailwaters....
