This past Sunday (5/4/08) Marmot and I got out and hit Chilhowee Lake. We had been wanting to fish it some time and I am always up for exploring some new water. I have passed it many times going over US 129 to places on the other side of the "The Hill".
It was an absolutely beautiful day to say the least. We boated a good portion of the lake and fished pretty freaking hard. We put on a little before 9:00 and took off just before 5:00.
The water is freaking cold, but the bass were fairly active. We saw large trout and large bass. Marmot hooked a nice Red Eye and a nice Largemouth. I stuck with the fly rod all day stripping and jigging assorted streamers. The streamer I ended up getting my best luck on was a bead headed shad Puglisi. I had quite a few chaser on it and a several takers. A couple of those takers were fat aggressive Blue Gills.
It may still be a little early in the year to be bass fishing up there, but we turned over some good fish, had some good chaser's and flat out saw some big fish.
I can definitely see me heading back over there and spending some more time in a few places that I would like to work over a little bit harder.
Here are few pics from our adventure. If Marmot gets the itchin', he got a couple of good shots of some some of the bass he wrestled in.

A shot of what I believe to be Mt. LeConte after looking at a Topo, if not and somebody knows what it is I would love to know.
