ETFFF Inaguaral Spring Fling will be held the 1st and 2nd of April. The vote now if for where the board wants to stay. I am open to all suggestions. If you know of some Cabins in the Smokies that we can contact please let me know. Or if you have a favorite campground you want to stay in. Let it me be known and we will start putting things together. Hope to have it all settled by the beginning of March. That way everybody can ask off and get their ducks in a row. Petey

Have to agree with Trey on The Strawberry Patch Lodge that Rusty brought up. And as for the Camping versus Cabin/lodge debate again I have to point out that while camping is fun , being in a tent makes the whole idea of a "get together" totally dependent on the weather. If bad weather comes it will eliminate the possibility of fellowship among the board members , and if that happens this whole "field trip" will have been basically a waste of time. That sounded kinda sour didn't it ? Sorry I didn't really mean it that way,................Tentwing

Is there an affordable place on the peaceful side of the smokies that could hold all of us like the place in Reliance? Or at least a large enough central location that we could all get together in that won't be to far to stagger..or stroll back to where we sleep? I have been looking on line but have yet to hit upon anything that is affordable. I guess another question is...how far from the park are we willing to lodge?

While I I'd rather pitch a tent in woods anyday, i think a cabins the way to go for sake of ease, comfort, and convenience - maybe later on we can do a backwoods hike in deal that requires some roughing it... as far as where to go it matters not to me 'cause I only live 20 min from Townsend area...I think the Patch that Rusty would be prime especially if he has the 411 on the owner, but if you guys need to me to physically go and check a place out before a decision is made, let me know what I can do to help....

One thing to keep in mind I guess is that a lot of the places I have looked at are non smoking and have extra charges for extra people. I know we can pull this off but I don't think we are gonna find as sweet a deal or situation as we had on the Hi. Petey if you need me to check on anything just give me a PM and I'll get right on it. There are a couple of people that work with me who have mentioned that they have access to some cabins, but I don't think they are big enough for our crowd, I also don't think they would like gas treatment thrown in the fireplace . Let me know if I can help.

Here are some more Cabins for you boys to view. This link was given to me by Paula at Little River Outfitters. www.dogwoodcabins.com/rentals/4br_sleepingloft.htmlThese are some sweet cabins. Look them over. I need to know what you guys are looking to spend a night. It appears we maybe looking at anywhere between 45-65 dollars apiece for he weekend. If we get a place for 250 a night and take at least 10 of us that is 500 dollars plus tax. Like the math? Did it all on my own. That may not be a bad price to pay for a spaciousl place for us to sprawl out and get comfortable. Thoughts? Petey

Just to refresh everybody on the place RacerX suggested.... www.inn-townsend.com/index.htmlRacerX how much can you get us rooms for? I noticed they advertised one and two bedroom suites. Do they also happen to rent a big cabin we could all stay in? Petey

Well, Riverman... we are open to all suggestions, so if you can find something then help us out. I don't care to sleep on a floor or a couch. There just aren't to many houses set up like the Big House at the Hiwassee. Petey

That's one of the things that makes Reliance such a great place to stay and base a group trip.
You've got camping and a nice cabin side by side, can smoke in the cabin, fishing five minutes away.....or 45 minutes if your looking towards Tellico.
Personally, If I was thinking that I would be able to attend, I'd say camping instead of rooms anyway. The first weekend in April always was the weekend I shot for for my families first camping trip of the year. A good air mattress and a tent with a good bag is perfect. The weather that time of the year is usually wonderful in the daytime and cool enough for fleece and a good campfire in the evening. And then a nice awning system is all you need in case it rains.
But I'm probably going to be in Reliance on the first weekend.....so I'm not sure if I'm coming or not. Like I said, I'd camp first, then plan B would be a big cabin to yourselves, allowing you to get a loud as you want with the pickin and grinnin, or the laughing and joking.
